So the other night I went to Albertsons, it was the last night of their 10 for 10 sale. They were out of milk, so when I was checking out I asked the lady for a raincheck. Am I the only one that gets sooo nervous using coupons and asking for stuff like that?! How do I get over my fear of couponing?

You just have to push yourself to do it once and see that it's no big deal. You also need to be armed with the knowledge of the store's coupon policies (the print outs help, I'll try to post them later). Do not back down if you know you are right. If they are giving you garbage, walk away. You don't have to do the deal...just don't be afraid to walk away.

And if you need support in fighting the urge, there's a 12-step-program near you that can help.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

In the beginning I was really timid and embarrassed about using coupons. The first couple times I ran into issues I never questioned the cashier and didn't stand up for myself even though I was pretty sure I was right. The best advice I have is to go in knowing exactly what you're doing and knowing the store coupon policy. That way if the cashier starts to give you trouble you can be confident in knowing what you're doing. Also, the more you use coupons the more it will become like second nature.

Try going through with just a few coupons to start with, take them to the car, then go back for a few more, if that helps get you started.
Don't be afraid to come back to return stuff, either, if you don't want to hassle over it in line.
And don't be afraid to just say forget the whole thing, and go to another store!
