I don't know where I should post this, sorry that it is in the wrong place. I was reading about stockpiling, not to sure where, but the person suggested that in the summertime people eat more steak then roast, and in the summertime you can get great clearance on roast and in the winter you can get great clearance on steaks. She also suggested to ask your meat person what time they clearance. I did ask my meat person and she told me three times a day morning, afternoon, and evening. She gave me the times also. She then explained the process, they discount the items in the morning if they have not sold by afternoon they discount it more and then by the evening if it is still there, it is super cheap. I have gone to my Kroger the last few nights and have gotten 5 roasts all under 5.00 and all between 3-5 lbs each. Can'twait till winter to start stocking up on steaks! ;D You may all ready know this sorry if it is a repeat.

That's so good to know! Now I'll just need to invest in a deep freeze.

Great tips! My local Kroger has a butcher's markdown bin so everything with an orange tag gets thrown in there. I never even look at the rest of the meat- just make a beeline for that bin. Same with the bakery for that matter.
